Microseries case study -Living with the infidels

2. Write up today's session and choose one of the microseries' marketing campaigns to analyse as a case study. You should include links and visuals to illustrate HOW and WHY the campaign took the form it did.

In terms of marketing, many web micro series often have to do an immense amount of marketing and or advertising to get noticed. An example which contradicts this however is 'Living with the Infidels' an online web series featuring comedy and 5 main characters.

Looking on the main website, there is only an animated picture which links to the title series and a link to watch the 5 episodes. Other than this there is no other links, to any of their advertising sites and methods such facebook, myspace, blogger, twitter etc. You would think there would be links, considering the amount of popularity this web series has, there main website is a little disappointing as other than these shows, not a lot else features.

Also in terms of advertising, the groups fan page only has 500 odd fans, which is not a lot compared to other popular web series such as The Guild or Chad Vader. Also despite all the criticism and controversy raised about the show, in terms of popularity as an audience member you would think it would have a lot more than this. In my opinion the website should have a lot more links to the advertising and marketing pages in order to keep the publicity going for the show.

On our web series website, we hope to have plenty of links to our advertising pages in order to keep our level of publicity going and maintain a wide audience. We hope to have interviews, photos, blogs, progress updates, and mainly the shows themselves. This will help us keep in contact with our fans and help them feel involved too. All this additional content is similar to the skins website, which I researched the other day as part of the marketing research.

The website has a blog, the gang, pictures, videos, novel, style, music, skins house, best bits and a cast and crew web link. I think the cast and crew link is a very good idea, and perhaps we can add this onto our website once we get it up and running. We hope to have links for the cast and crew, music, photos, progress, blog, videos, interviews and a comments page.
